Hey Y'All! It seems like everytime that I start a blog the opening sentace is some sort of appology/excuse as to why I have not written a blog in a long time and well this time is no different to any other. It seems like work just gets busier and busier and while you are focusing on work you also have to make time for your friends and family...

I thought that I was busy when the nationals were on trying to make it all happen on a budget that was made up of my personal savings (which was not a lot I can tell you) and that once they were over I would have a little bit more time but I think that I am just as busy now if not busier.

We have got so much footage from the shows and so much extra stuff that no one has even seen yet that is cool as heck. Slowly I have been sifting through the un-used stuff and trying to make stand alone video's for the site while also doing tons of other smaller things for people.

This is all while we are trying to nail down our TV deal with Fuel which took some good leaps forward today...

I though for this Blog entry I would go through about some of the things that have been going on since I spoke to you all last.

RACING/RIDING

During the Nationals I really was not able to do very much riding at all which really reflected in my riding. If you go back and read some of my earilier blogs this year was poised to be my best year ever in terms of racing. I had been training off the bike and doing a ton of riding on really really rough tracks.. I won a heap of the races early on in the year in the B Class and I was excited to try and qualify for the QLD Titles Championship Class as well as reaching my goal of winning the TNQ Regional Series.

Once we started doing more and more work though I was focusing less on riding and more on MXDaily which hurt my riding big time. I was so excited for the first round of the QLD's at the start of the year but when it came time to race them I sandbagged qualifying so that I didn't have to ride the Pro Class. I ended up qualifying 45th and went into the B Class so that I didn't have to do the 20minute Pro Class moto but was really bumbed when I found out that the B Class did 20 as well. I know that if I put down a good lap I could of at least reached my goal of qualifying but I wouldn'y have been able to survive the 20 minutes.

The next racing goal for this year was to win the TNQ Regional Series. Things were looking pretty good at round one and I walked away with a solid 4th but I came away know that I was fast enough to win races but my starts were crap and I had lost a lot of race fitness by being away so much.

I went away from that race keen to work hard so that I was in better shape for the next rounds. Turns out I spent no time on the bike in between rounds due to a broken bike but I moved from fourth to third and I had a pretty good third round but the top two were smoking me.

Long story short I pretty much got further off the lead two riders with every round but managed to get a big enough gap on 4th that I was able to secure 3rd overall pretty easily so it was good to be on the podium but bad to know that I got worse over the series not better.

HIRED HELP

In other MXD related news I have a new helper on board that has been really good to me in the last few weeks. Right now is probably the first time that you will hear the name Wade Hunter but I promise that you will hear it a lot more over the coming years. Wade is a really good Junior prospect that will be lining up at the Junior Aussies for the final time this year before turning senior next year. He is the most naturally tallented rider that I have seen in a really long time and if he gets on the right program next year he will really do some damage in the U19's class.

He has the most smooth riding style I have seen and he just has that natural ability that a gavin like me would almost loose a digit for! For exampple, we went riding the other day and it was Wades third ride back from a badly broken arm... We have just built this new 100ft tripple on our track and no one has ever jumped it. Wade goes and gets on his busted-ass practise bike that I would not jump into a lake and goes out and does a few warm up laps and then hucks the sh*t out of this 100ft gap. Not to mention that we have not finished the berm after it and he had about 9m to stop before riding into the creek.

Then we go to the last round of the TNQ's this past weekend where he has to deal with ex-Aussies-Champ Jake Wright who has been riding strong all year and he wins every race going 1-1-1! But what really makes me laugh is that the club just put in a pretty gnarly set of whoops in that everyone was doubling through and Wade just rocks up first lap of practise and tripple-tipple's them clean. We have some really good senior guys up here who ran top 20 in Lites and 19's at the Nats that wern't even doing that.

The other good thing is too is that he is a good worker, he is a good kid with his head screwed on who really wants to race dirt bikes. He lives and breathes the sport and comes in handy big time because he really knows his stuff.

FUN

I have also made some time for myself to do some non-moto activities over the last few weeks and I deffinantly feel more enthusiastic about working becuase of it... I am really into my pet snakes "Angus" and "Mowgli" so I have been building them some really nice enclosures so that they don't get bored and can get plenty of excercise in a really natural environment. Now that it is heating up too I have been taking them out onto the front lawn to get some sweet sweet rays of sunshie and they love it!

I have been doing a bit of wake boarding also and I am hoping to go up to the Lake behind a boat this weekend with a couple of the boys this weekend. Wakeboarding is so fun for me right now because it is a new challenge and in NQ it is hot in winter so water based recreation is a must up here at some stage during the year.

I also had my 21st the other weekend which was SO fun! A ton of people came out for it and I even had some great friends fly from interstate to come which was an awesome surprise.

One of my bet mates from school came up from Brissie and surprised my by just sliding out the back undetected with a beer in his hand and just waited until I came across him. I was so excited, and a little drunk so prolly more excited than usual, to see him and it was awesome to catch up on everything. Chris is a pro swimmer on the Aussie team and just broke the Aussie short course record for the 200m butterfly so he was telling me all about that and his recent overseas trips.

We ended up getting all the original school crew together for a round of Golf that week and it was seriously like we had never left school.

Well the battery is on 15% now and I am super-tired so I will leave it at that.

I must also give a big shout out to my boy Luke George who is one his way to getting better and another close friend from home Wez who crashed hard yesterday breaking 8 ribs and puncturing his lung, speedy recovery to both of you boys!

Like always thanks to everyone who supports MXDaily and thanks to all the people who log on, we have some massive things happening soon and as soon as I can share them with you I will but I know you'll be pumpt on it.

I won't leave it so long next time I promise...
